The Need
The Least Reached Generation
Ages 18 to 30 are the least churched demographic in America. Research from Barna Group found that 64% of young adults who grew up in church have withdrawn from church involvement by their late twenties, up from 59% a decade earlier. Lifeway Research puts the dropout rate even higher, finding that 66% of young adults who attended church regularly as teenagers stopped attending for at least a year between the ages of 18 and 22. Pew Research confirms that only 25% of adults under 30 attend religious services even monthly.
Many of them are not far. They are in our own communities, without a spiritual home, without mentors, and without a community that knows their name.
Lifeway Research also found that teenagers with three or more mentoring adults in their lives are 3.5 times more likely to remain in church as young adults. That is not a program statistic. That is a discipleship and relationship statistic, and it is exactly who The Gathering exists for.
Our Vision
Raising Up a Generation
The Gathering exists to create a place where young adults belong, whether they grew up in the church or are just beginning to find their way to God. Our vision is to raise up spiritually mature young adults who are rooted in Scripture, connected in authentic community, equipped for Kingdom purpose, and actively engaged in serving the body of Christ.
“so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:17 (NIV)
Not Programs
Four Core Objectives
Belong
Authentic Community
Creating a place where each person genuinely belongs, known by name, valued, and never invisible.
Grow
Biblical Discipleship
Grounding every person in Scripture, studying, applying, and living out God's Word in daily life.
Lead
Kingdom Service
Helping each person discover the gifts God placed in them, and releasing them to put those gifts to work in the church and the community around us.
Future Plan
Mentorship
Connecting young adults with mature believers who will walk with them, not just advise them, spiritual mothers and fathers investing in the next generation.
